Stem cell therapy also known as Cellular Therapy and Regenerative Medicine is a type of treatment option that uses a patients’ own stem cells or the stem cells from umbilical cord blood or tissue to repair and regenerate tissue. Cellular Therapy is used to treat various disorders from non-serious to life threatening conditions. The stem cells can be acquired from a lot of different sources and used to potentially treat any disease whatsoever.

Cellular Therapy and Regenerative Medicine naturally repairs injured or diseased tissue. Research has shown that Cellular Therapy has the ability to regenerate damaged or injured tissue, modulate the immune system, decrease pro-inflammatory mediators, release growth factors, cytokines and chemokines that aid healing and in the formation of new blood vessels while suppressing inflammation.

Stem cell therapy is an important innovation in medicine because of its regenerative power in the human body. Most disease states are characterized by damaged cells, tissues, and organs, which is where stem cell therapy comes in. In stem cell therapy, stem cells are administered into the human body and it replaces the cells damaged by disease or health disorders.

At RASC, every individual that we treat with Cellular Therapy and Regenerative Medicine is unique and response to stem cell therapy can differ from patient to patient. There is no guarantee what the results will be or how quickly a patient will respond to treatment. Stem cell therapy does not work immediately. Most patients at RASC will not experience immediate results although some patients have experienced some changes during the course of treatment. Most patients will notice some improvement within 1-3 months following treatment and can continue to improve for up to 3 years following treatment given they follow the instructions of their attending physicians and regenerative medicine specialists.

There is always some level of risk accompanying any medical procedure, including procedures that are commonly characterized as “routine.” In the case of stem cell therapy, the level of risk associated with the procedure is exceptionally low and patients are very unlikely to experience complications arising from Cellular Therapy and Regenerative Medicine at RASC.

Immediately following Cellular Therapy at RASC and sometimes up to 72 hours post treatment, patients may experience minor side effects such as fever, headache, nausea or dizziness.
